Bismarck Turner Scholarship

The Bismarck H. Turner Scholarship Trust provides academic scholarships to students graduating from high schools within Bonner, Kootenai, Spokane and Pend Oreille Counties.
Bismarck Turner Scholarship submissions for Washington must be received in our office no later than 4:00 pm on April 1, 2022. Applicants planning to submit applications in person should plan to submit ahead of the deadline in the event of unforeseen emergency office closures. NOW CLOSED

About the Bismarck H. Turner Trust:

The Bismarck H. Turner Scholarship Trust was established by Mr. Turner for the purpose of providing scholarships to students graduating from one of four counties; Spokane and Pend Oreille in Washington and Kootenai and Bonner in Idaho.

Mr. Turner was a land owner in Idaho and Washington, working in the timber industry and becoming a land developer. Mr. Turner came from an educated family and was very supportive of higher education. Thus the majority of his estate was set up in the scholarship fund.

If you graduated from a high school in Bonner or Kootenai Counties, Idaho, your new or renewal application must be returned to your high school principal or counselor**Idaho applications submitted to NEWESD 101 cannot be processed nor passed on to Idaho representatives.** 

If you graduated from a high school in Spokane or Pend Oreille Counties, Washington, your application must be returned to Mick Miller, NEWESD 101, 4202 S. Regal Street, Spokane, WA 99223-7738.

Students can only receive a maximum of four (4) grants.

Special Instructions for students who are eligible to complete the WASFA: 

Expected Family Contribution is used to evaluate student financial need.  In order to evaluate all students in an equitable manner, students who complete the WASFA in lieu of the FAFSA should submit a copy of their WASFA form AND the results from the following Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Calculator. Click to complete the EFC Calculator
