About Life.On.Line

NEWESD 101's Life.On.Line Internet Safety Curriculum began as a series of individually-scheduled webinars that helped schools meet E-Rate and CIPA requirements. It has since expanded into a complete digital package used by ESDs in Washington and beyond. By incorporating student-centered activities, on-demand videos, and classroom polling, the program provides districts an innovative option for delivering curriculum.

The Life.On.Line package includes:

  • Lesson Plans with recommendations for using the lessons with your students;
  • 20-45 minute video-on-demand lessons with interactive student polls and discussion prompts;
  • Streaming videos are available with Closed Captioning;
  • Pre- and post-lesson activities that support the lesson content;
  • Activities to extend the lesson, built on free Common Sense Media and NetSmartz resources;
  • Links to other free, online resources for teachers and students; and
  • Suggested forms and methods for documenting E-Rate compliance.

All resources are in digital format and can be accessed online or downloaded for local use.

The focus of these lessons cover topics such as:

  • Cyberbullying – being an upstanding digital citizen;
  • Online communications – email, chat rooms, forums, games;
  • Social networks – Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google, Snapchat;
  • Online personal safety – keeping personal info private; and
  • Intellectual property – giving credit where credit is due.

Materials have been developed for four student grade bands, K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12, and are aligned with National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S) and Common Core Standards.

Materials are now available at no charge.

For the 2017-2018 school year, Life.On.Line will be a free product! Goodbye subscriptions, goodbye course codes, goodbye limited availability!
