About NE Washington Information Service Center (NEWISC)

What is NEWISC?

The Northeast Washington Information Service Center (NEWISC) is one of seven regional service centers across Washington State. We are located in Spokane, Washington as a part of Northeast Washington Educational Service District 101 (NEWESD 101). The NEWISC provides training and support for the Skyward Student and Business (Finance, Human Resources, and Payroll) Information Systems. The Skyward School Management System is licensed throughout the state of Washington through the larger WSIPC cooperative


NEWISC Highlights and Service Area

NEWISC cooperative members include: the NEWESD 101 agency, 62 public school districts, 4 public charter schools, and 3 private schools. 
The NEWISC is the largest (most district served) information service center in the state of Washington.
Through these 70 agencies, we serve approximately 45,000 Student FTE. Thirty-five of the schools we serve are under 270 FTE.
Our cooperative members reside in 13 counties including: Adams, Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, King, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla and Whitman.


NEWISC Staff

The Fiscal Systems Analysts support the fiscal and human resource applications of the Skyward School Business Suite such as general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, warehouse, payroll, personnel, and statewide reporting.

The Student Systems Analysts support the use of the Skyward Student Management System for student scheduling, grading, attendance, special education, fee management, health records, and statewide reporting.

Cooperative Analysts and support personnel provide ongoing technical support, workshops, and training for all facets of the Skyward School Management System, Washington State reports, and My School Data.

In addition to the services of the software support staff, our System Support Specialists provides all non-software support to districts. They are available to develop customized Crystal Reports, provide support on printing issues, and assist in troubleshooting network connection issues. They are also responsible for transferring files to other state agencies and banking institutions; and printing and assembling district output, like warrants and report cards, for daily shipment and/or pickup at NEWESD 101.


Governance & Funding

The NEWISC is part of NEWESD 101 and governed by their Board policies. In addition, the NEWISC Advisory Committee is comprised of the member superintendents who elect a five member Executive Committee that helps set direction and recommends the annual FTE Fee paid by the membership. The NEWISC is fully supported through members' FTE fees.
