Orchard Prairie School District is seeking a full-time Superintendent/Principal to lead its K–7 school.

About Orchard Prairie
Orchard Prairie is a small, rural public school district in Spokane, Washington, serving 89 students in grades K–7. The district was founded in 1894.

Kindergarten through second grade is currently housed in the original school building, and construction of a new facility (including a multi-purpose room) is planned to begin in July 2026.

Students are primarily educated in multi-aged classrooms (K; 1/2; 3/4; 5/6/7), with frequent cross-grade collaboration and project-based learning that nurtures student leadership.

Position Overview

The Superintendent/Principal provides district leadership while serving as the building principal, working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, families, and the Orchard Prairie community to maintain a caring, safe, and engaging learning environment with high academic and behavioral expectations.

 

 

Salary: $125,000–$130,000 DOE

Qualities and Qualifications
The district desires to find someone who:

*Prioritizes students’ learning and safety first

*Knows and understands K–7 curriculum and best practices

*Encourages, motivates, and guides certificated and classified staff toward continuous improvement

*Leads with an open, collaborative style; fosters teamwork, common purpose, and conflict resolution

*Communicates clearly with the school board, staff, students, families, and community

*Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and diplomacy

*Understands small, rural district dynamics and provides strong financial stewardship (including grants and funding opportunities)

*Oversees maintenance of grounds and buildings

*Can fulfill the requirements of RCW 28A.400.030 (superintendent) and RCW 28A.400.100 (principal)


Required: Master’s degree and principal certification
Preferred: Superintendent certification (not required)
