NEWESD 101 stands with the families, schools and communities facing evacuation, uncertainty and loss. We are deeply grateful to the first responders, school staff, volunteers and organizations working tirelessly to protect and support our region.

Spokane Public Schools Emergency Drop-Off Camp & Disaster Assistance Center The free emergency drop-off camp for children ages 4 and older at Shadle Park High School has been extended through Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, with lunch provided.
The Disaster Assistance Center at Shadle Park High School will also remain open through Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Families can connect with assistance and recovery resources at the center.
Professional clothing and shoes for those needing work attire are also available at Shadle Park High School through Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Gift cards to stores and restaurants are currently among the most useful donations for impacted families. Physical donations should be directed to community partners such as The Salvation Army rather than brought to the Disaster Assistance Center.

ArtsEd Washington Eastern Washington Arts Recovery Project
ArtsEd Washington is collecting monetary donations, arts supplies and equipment to help students and educators replace visual and performing arts materials lost or damaged in the Eastern Washington fires. Students and teachers may also request replacement items.

Returning Home Safely
American Red Cross Mobile Reentry Stations
The American Red Cross is operating mobile reentry stations in neighborhoods cleared for residents to return. Protective equipment and information about safely reentering homes and properties are available.

Lakeside Middle School’s parking area has been made available for those needing a place to store vehicles, trailers or equipment. Community donation and assistance efforts continue throughout the Nine Mile Falls area.

Spokane Public Library continues to maintain wildfire-related community resources. Open libraries may also provide cleaner indoor air, air conditioning, charging access, children’s spaces and a place to take a break.

Wildfire-impacted community members may use YMCA facilities for showers and daytime access at no cost. Adults should bring photo identification.
