Crossing Content, Creating Connections

Science educators gather at NEWESD 101 for AESD cross-content collaboration
Posted on 09/28/2026

Science educators gathered in September at NEWESD 101’s Talbott Event Center to support AESD cross-content collaboration, a statewide effort that brings together the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Association of Educational Service Districts to strengthen alignment across curriculum, science standards and multi-tiered systems of support.

The work focuses on helping regional coordinators and instructional leaders collaborate across science, math and English language arts to support implementation of Washington’s learning standards. It also encourages stronger cross-disciplinary connections, blending content knowledge with literacy, life skills and STEM initiatives, while expanding professional development opportunities that promote inclusive, responsive instruction for all learners.

Among those participating was NEWESD 101 Regional Science Coordinator Michelle Grove, alongside fellow science educators committed to strengthening teaching and learning across the state.
