Colfax Students Launch The Bulldog PawCast
Posted on 06/03/2026
Leonard M. Jennings Elementary students in Colfax are taking the mic and making their voices heard through The Bulldog PawCast, a student-led podcast created to build connection, promote positivity and strengthen belonging within the school community.
On May 28, students, families, staff, community partners and members of the local press gathered for the Bulldog PawCast Showcase, a special event celebrating the podcast’s launch. During the showcase, students shared live podcast highlights, spoke about the project and had the opportunity to lead a real press conference. Local press members were invited to ask questions, giving students valuable experience with public speaking, media engagement and sharing their ideas with confidence.
Through The Bulldog PawCast, students explore topics that matter to them, including friendship, kindness, mental health, school pride and making healthy choices. The project also helps students develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills while creating an inclusive space for student voice.
A major shoutout is owed to NEWESD 101's Kirsten Fuchs, Youth Cannabis and Commercial Tobacco Prevention Program Coordinator and Sara Golden, SUPER Colfax Coalition Coordinator, for helping lead this creative, student-centered effort.
