Building Homes & Futures Through Service

This past spring, Spokane Service Team AmeriCorps and YouthBuild members joined Habitat for Humanity Spokane, the City of Spokane, NEWESD 101 and AmeriCorps for the Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service.
Held April 10 at a Habitat for Humanity Spokane worksite, the event brought together service members and community partners to paint, landscape and help move a local home closer to completion. The day also highlighted the broader impact of national service, from supporting schools and nonprofits to helping members build confidence, leadership skills and career pathways.
The story also celebrates Joseph Bostic, a Spokane Service Team member serving with YouthBuild Spokane, who received the 2026 Individual Washington Volunteer Service Award for the Northeast Region.
