Registration open for BEST Mentor Academy 101

K-12 educators interested in mentoring and coaching are invited to register for BEST Mentor Academy 101, a free, in-person professional learning event hosted June 24-25, 2026, at the NEWESD 101 Talbott Event Center in Spokane.
Mentor Academy 101 is designed to help educators build foundational mentor and coaching skills while preparing them to serve as leaders in mentoring and coaching roles. The academy is grounded in the pursuit of equitable outcomes for students across Washington state and centers the Washington State Standards for Mentoring.
Participants will examine their own identity and experiences, reflect on how they build relationships with mentees and explore the systems change advocacy essential to mentoring for equity. Topics include identity, relationship building, confidentiality, conversation skills, mentor roles, observation and feedback.
The academy will be facilitated by OSPI BEST Mentor faculty and offers 12 clock hours, including two equity hours.
