The 2025 AESD Annual Conference continued Friday morning, April 18, with AESD Legislative Liaison Melissa Gombosky providing attendees with timely updates on state legislative activities and AESD advocacy priorities. Building upon discussions from earlier sessions, Gombosky highlighted recent legislative developments and emphasized AESD’s ongoing role in supporting effective education policy across Washington state.

Following the legislative briefing, Gombosky moderated an engaging panel discussion featuring NEWESD 101 Board Chair Chuck Stocker and fellow education leaders. The panel explored the evolution of education advocacy in Washington, noting key successes and acknowledging areas where continued efforts are critical. Panelists emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum, advocating collaboratively, and addressing ongoing challenges to ensure equitable educational outcomes for students statewide.
