Internet Safety Training and
Education Program
The Internet Safety Leadership Summit, a pre-conference session at this year's Northwest Coucil for Computer Education Conference in Seattle, was well attended and the participants gained a wealth of knowledge on issues and available resources.
The Summit was a component of the Internet Safety Training and Education Program (ISTEP) coordinated through the Northeast Washington Education Council and Educational Service District 101. ISTEP is providing regional Internet safety training and resources to public and private districts in the ESD 101 service area. Content covered includes personal safety while using the Internet, cyberbullying, social networking, intellectual property issues, cyber citizenship, and network security.
Project Partners include:
- U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Washington
- Catholic Dioceses of Spokane
- West Valley School District
- Northwest Council for Computer Education
Collaborating resource providers include:
- NetSmartz / National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
- i-SAFE America
- Web Wise Kids
- Ad Council
For more information on these organziations, click on the Cyber Safety link in the left-hand column.
If your district is interested in participating in ISTEP, contact Brent Howard, Project Coordinator, at 509-323-2734 or bhoward@esd101.net.
