The region’s other high finishers were: Odessa, 2nd in 1B; Pullman, second in 2A; Garfield-Palouse, 3rd in 1B; and Almira-Coulee-Hartline, 4th in 1B.

The Knowledge Bowl matches teams in a rigorous test of academic and contemporary knowledge. Competitors are presented oral and written questions drawn from secondary curriculum areas including math, science, history, language, literature, music and geography. Current events and topics of general interest also are included.

Earlier, the same teams competed in a regional event sponsored by ESD 101 and hosted by Whitworth University’s Center for Gifted Education. The regional event drew 36 teams competing for places in the state tournament. Top finishers in the regional competition, all qualifying for the state finals, were:

  • 4A – Central Valley, Shadle Park, Mead.

  • 3A – Mt. Spokane.

  • 2A – Pullman, Cheney.

  • 1A – Lakeside, Freeman, Jenkins.

  • 2B – Saint George’s, Reardan-Edwall, Valley Christian, Northwest Christian.

  • 1B – Garfield/Palouse, Almira-Coulee-Hartline, Odessa, Oakesdale.

Congratulations to all from ESD 101.
