Connecting IDEAS; Ensuring Successful Transitions for All
Students is the theme for the 2008 I.D.E.A.S. Conference,
February 28 at the Spokane Convention Center. ESD 101, ESD 171
and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction have
invited a select group of presenters to address issues of
transition – from pre-school through school-to-work programs.
The keynote address, The Whole Child, will be presented by Dr.
Gene Carter, executive director and CEO, Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Washington State
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (WSASCD)
also has made it possible for author Carol Ann Tomlinson to
speak to Differentiating Instruction in Mixed Ability K-12
Classrooms.

childhood transition; dropout prevention; Navigation 101 and
transition to the classroom for traumatized youth.
I.D.E.A.S. 2008 will appeal to educators and stakeholders
working with a wide range of students. Session offerings will
demonstrate educational best practice for ensuring each student
reaches his or her potential during and after their K-12
experience. The conference will offer an opportunity to build
upon strengths and examine resources available in our
communities for meeting the educational needs of all children.
Audience members will include academic stakeholders representing
pre-school through higher education.
Clock hours will be offered to conference
participants. For further information, contact Brenda Carlson at
