Fingerprinting available at ESD 101
Fingerprint
background checks, required of educators in Washington state,
are now available through ESD 101.
Fingerprinting is required of individuals who have regular,
unsupervised access to children, including those seeking
certificates and those seeking certified or classified
employment.
ESD 101 offers fingerprinting between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and
4 p.m. at its headquarters office, 4202 South Regal.
Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling (509)
789-3800.
Candidates should not schedule appointments if they are
suffering from cuts, wounds or injuries to their hands or
experiencing general ill health. ESD 101 also kindly requests
that young, unsupervised children not accompany their parents to
appointments, which average 15-30 minutes in length
Payment, written directly to ESD 101, is required at the time of
service and must be made by cashier’s check or money order
(cash not accepted, no
personal checks, credit cards or debit cards). The cost,
including local processing and state-mandated fees, is $75.25 for
school district employees; $85.25 for
certificate/college/university applicants and private school
employees. (these prices are
effective 1 October 2007)
ESD 101 employs a digital technology which submits scanned
images directly to the Washington State Patrol. After additional
review by the FBI, fingerprint records are held by OSPI.
